News is bad news…

...as opposed to no news is good news. =)

There are a slew of scents making their way back into the Arcana Soaps vaults.

As of 31 January 2007, this year’s Christmas limited blends will be wrapped in tissue paper and put away safely until (hopefully) December(ish).

For your convenience, the Christmas blends are:
Arctic Bear
Hogmanay
La Befana
Solstice Sugar
The Ulda
Winternights

This will, of course, include perfume oils, soaps and scrubs.

The two remaining summer limited editions have come to the end of their life and will vanish, possibly never to be seen again, on 31 January 2007.

These are:
Revival (which was in soap form only)
Espionage (soap and perfume oil)

Two of the layering notes will be formally discharged on 31 January 2007. We can only hope that they retire to a nice seaside town and enjoy the rest, and that one day, they decide they need to rejoin the hustle and bustle.

These are:
Eggnog
Citrus Crème

However, for all those leaving us, there can only be more to fill their shoes. Watch this space! =)
Updated Soap Catalogue

Absinthe: Let the heady spirit of the Green Fairy whisper in your ear. Scented with aromatic herbs and sweet anise, this deceptively soothing bar is enriched with avocado oil, coconut milk and a touch of pure Artemisia Absinthium. Imminent moral collapse not included.

Ambrosia: Recipes for ambrosia, the magical food which bestowed eternal youth on the Greek gods, have long been lost. However, we have it on the best authority that this melding of fragrant honey, lemons, peaches and custard with oils of macadamia and sweet almond is divinely close.

Avalon: A harmonious blend of fresh apples, green herbs and wildflowers, in homage to the ancient Celtic version of the gloriously sweet hereafter: a happy land of apple orchards and perpetual soft summer days. With Fair Trade shea butter, grapeseed oil and calming calendula.

Breakfast in Hollywood: Take the most important bath of the day as juicy pink grapefruit shimmies up against a bevy of California citrus fruits, sparkling champagne, ripe strawberries, rich mango butter, satiny tussah silk and scattered rose petals. The indulgent essence of breakfast with a screen goddess.

Burlesque: The sweet, smoky decadence of a bawdy dance hall, with bold amber, spicy chocolate and the warm wood of a well-traveled stage. Enriched with more than enough cocoa butter and sweet almond oil to turn your daily grind into a bump and grind.

Byzantium: A salute to the ancient metropolis at the crossroads of East and West. Sail to Byzantium with this opulent blend of fortifying Mediterranean mint, dark Turkish tea and sparkling Roman oranges, enriched with lavish dollops of sweet almond and grapeseed oils for extravagantly happy skin.

Devilish: Shaking off vanilla’s unfair reputation for namby pambyness, this infernally dark and smoky soap comes complete with licks of fire and sulfurous wafts of brimstone, all the while lowering your inhibitions with deep Bourbon vanilla beans and velvety tussah silk. The devil really does have all the best scents.

Dia de los Muertos: Though Spanish conquistadores tried to put the kibosh on this Aztec ritual for the dead, the holiday not only endured, but retained its flamingly pagan core. Celebrate, honor, and even laugh at death with our fusion of spices, honey, tobacco, dark chocolate, cocoa butter and jaunty marigold petals.

Filthy Viking: Between the sea voyages and the pillaging, it must have been difficult for Odin's henchmen to stay fresh. Too bad they didn't have this fiercely cleansing bar with scrubbing pumice, deodorizing coffee, and the scents of the Viking world: bracing Norwegian juniper and frigid Icelandic mint.

Grasshopper: A sparkling pan-Asian blend of Indonesian ginger, Japanese yuzu fruit and Thai lemongrass, spiked with a hint of Indian black pepper and enriched with coconut milk and tussah peace silk. Your way is the way of cleanliness, Grasshopper.

Jane & Tarzan: Swing through the trees with the sultry tang of tropical mangos, exotic woods and the faintly lingering whiff of a once-proper Edwardian lady’s muguet perfume. With luscious mango butter, sweet almond oil and rich coconut milk. Ah, jungle love.

Murder Ballad Blues: In the tradition of murder ballads, the essence of an old-time jailhouse lament (on fiddle): wild Appalachian blackberries and sugared mountain violets with hints of dark earth and guilty secrets. Enriched with soothing coconut milk, sweet almond oil and blackberry seeds. No mice were harmed in the making of this soap.

Mutiny: Tyrants be damned! The scent of discontent, broken ranks and open rebellion on the sea. Indonesian patchouli combines with black pepper, dark wood and a smoky haze of gunpowder. Enriched with macadamia oil, coconut milk, and a swirl of Her Majesty’s navy blue.

Persephone’s Flowers: As one of the most over-scheduled divine beings, Persephone had to juggle roles as daughter, wife, icon of spring, cheerless Queen of Hades and spokesmodel for pomegranates. In her soap, the musky tartness of pomegranate rubs itself all over innocent lily of the valley while black anise hangs back discreetly.

Queen Crossbones: The adventurous scents of a pirate queen’s far-flung travels: creamy Egyptian musk, wild honey, sweet coconut and exotic resins. Enriched with black cocoa butter and precious macadamia oil. Because a bad attitude and a stolen galleon will get you everywhere.

Shambhala: Somewhere high in the Himalayas, a mystical kingdom is said to be hidden, accessible only on rare occasions to a fortunate few. Enjoy a touch of Shambhala’s magic with this harmony of sandalwood, Himalayan cedarwood, a dash of spun honey, Fair Trade shea butter and purifying red clay.

Shipwrecked: Look on the bright side with a soap for seafarers marooned in paradise. With coconut milk, avocado oil, sea salt crystals, and the aquatic scent of warm ocean waves, sweet tropical fruits and salty island air. Because going down with the ship is really overrated.

Sleepy Hollow: The headless horseman bathes tonight! An atmospheric ode to romantically spooky Autumn evenings, with fresh pumpkin, spiced apple brew, bonfire smoke and sweet almond oil. Perfect for the telling of deliciously scary tales.

Spitfire: Work yourself into a lather with this drama queen's fiery brew of hot cinnamon, dragon's blood and sweet resins. Enriched with shea butter, coconut milk and Australian red clay. Arcana Soaps denies responsibility for possible injuries caused by the temperamental flinging of this soap.

Swashbuckler: Proof that you can be the scourge of the high seas and still breeze into port smelling divine. Deeply cleansing, yet rich with Australian black clay, exotic babassu, tropical coconut milk, West Indies bay rum and a dark blend of spices. Hoist the black soap!

Vampire’s Garden: For vampires and other dark souls addicted to topsoil, the sweetly herbaceous scent of freshly turned earth, blood oranges and staked tomato vines under a midnight sky. With rich red clay, genuine tussah silk and luxurious sweet almond oil for suds that leave you clean, supple and highly biteable.

Hail the Great Arctic Bear!

Hogmanay: Go first footing with our fragrant paean to the Scottish New Year. The scents of heather and damp moss mix with a generous pour of Scotch whisky, organic oats and sea salt.
Christmas Perfume Oils

Arctic Bear: Cave in to shivery pleasures with this festively icy blend straight from the North Pole. A playful mix of aromatic Northern bayberry, frosted Siberian fir needle oil and the dry freshness of snowy woods. Hail the Great Arctic Bear!

La Befana: Notes of ripe apricot, Sicilian blood orange, dark chocolate, smoked vanilla, and toasted biscotti combine to evoke la Befana, the Christmas witch of Italy who slides down chimneys to leave sweets for very good children and lumps of coal for the very bad.

Solstice Sugar: Rejoice in the return of the sweet sun-child throughout all the jolly festivals of the Winter Solstice. The scent of warmest celebrations and Yuletide feasts with notes of toasty almonds, apple cakes, baking spices and honeyed mead.

The Ulda: The elusive fairy folk of the Nordic Sapmi region are said to live underneath the Earth and travel in reindeer-drawn sleighs tinkling with silver bells. With white almond, resinous Baltic amber, crisp bayberry, warm cardamom and pink pepper.

Winternights: The ancient pagan Norse revels of Winternights and Walpurgis once marked the beginning and ending of a long and frozen winter season. Feast, give thanks, ward off Frost Giants, or just frolic with this mirthful Northern mix of three vanillas, frosty peppermint, a dab of white musk, and a hint of ripe young berries encased in ice.

Hallowe'en Perfume Oils

Current limited edition scents available until approximately mid-November

Guy Fawkes: "Remember, remember, the fifth of November". Revisit the Gunpowder Plot with this intense mix of smoky bonfire revels, dry apple cider, aged vetiver, black coffee and cold, damp November earth. A penny for the guy!

Haint: The sweet, melancholy essence of a Southern ghost drifting through dark mountain hollows and crumbling neo-classical mansions. White musk, vanilla musk, Madagascar vanilla, sugarcane, and a faint trail of white pepper.

Holy Terror: There are utterly somber and fearsome spirits which are known to haunt certain long-deserted chapels, monasteries and abbeys. An unsettling, austere blend of burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh and dusty beeswax candles.

Little Ghoulie: All the scents of a small, terribly excited newbie to the trick-or-treat scene. Jack o’ Lanterns, ginger cookies, chocolate candy and a frisson of overwhelming delight.

Your way is the way of cleanliness, Grasshopper.

Jane & Tarzan: Swing through the trees with the sultry tang of tropical mangoes, exotic woods & the faintly lingering whiff of a once-proper Edwardian lady’s muguet perfume. With luscious mango butter, sweet almond oil & rich coconut milk. Ah, jungle love.

Murder Ballad Blues: In the tradition of murder ballads, the essence of an old-time jailhouse lament (on fiddle): wild Appalachian blackberries and sugared mountain violets with hints of dark earth and guilty secrets. Enriched with soothing coconut milk, sweet almond oil & blackberry seeds. No mice were harmed in the making of this soap.

Mutiny: Tyrants be damned! The scent of discontent, broken ranks and open rebellion on the sea. Indonesian patchouli combines with black pepper, dark wood and a smoky haze of gunpowder. Enriched with macadamia oil, coconut milk and a swirl of Her Majesty’s navy blue.

Persephone’s Flowers: As one of the most overscheduled divine beings, Persephone had to juggle her roles as daughter, wife, goddess, icon of spring, cheerless Queen of Hades & spokesmodel for pomegranate seeds. In her avocado-enriched soap, the musky tartness of pomegranate rubs itself all over innocent lily of the valley while black anise hangs back discreetly.

Shambhala: Somewhere high in the Himalayas, a mystical kingdom is said to be hidden, accessible on rare occasions to a fortunate few. Enjoy a touch of Shambhala's magic with this harmony of sandalwood, Himalayan cedarwood, a dash of spun honey, Fair Trade shea butter & purifying red clay.

Queen Crossbones: The adventurous scents of a pirate queen's far-flung travels: creamy Egyptian musk, wild honey, sweet coconut and exotic resins.
Welcome!

You have reached the UK home of Arcana Soaps - congratulations and welcome! This is really a holding entry to introduce myself and explain the purpose of this journal. I arrange big group orders of Arcana Soaps' fabulous perfume oils and soaps. Currently, the retail arm of the Arcana Soaps empire is down, but due to the level of orders that are placed, Arcana Soaps have kindly allowed us to continue to order from them (just call it honorary wholesaling ;) ). Eventually, I hope to open a Perfume Empire and take over the world, but that's a different story for a different time.

In the next few days, I will be adding a catalogue to this journal so you can peruse the fabulous products available and I will provide a link to perfumedwaters where the group orders will be based (fyi, perfumedwaters is a wonderful community created solely for UK and EU peoples to buy truckloads of stuff from American websites (incense, bath and body, perfume, anything goes) without having to shoulder the huge postage costs alone.

As seems to be my catchphrase at the moment, "more news as I get it".
